Yayasan Inisiasi Alam Rehabilitasi Indonesia (Yayasan
IAR Indonesia/YIARI), a non-profit organization which focuses on the rescue,
rehabilitation and conservation of wildlife.
Yayasan IAR Indonesia rescues and rehabilitates orangutans, macaques and
slow lorises with the aim to prepare these animals for release back into their
natural habitat. Yayasan IAR Indonesia
also engages in education and awareness programmes that convey messages to the
public to treat all animals with compassion and care.
Yayasan IAR Indonesia is urgently seeking looking
for a qualified individual to fill a vacant position as Behaviour
Data Collection and Monitoring Assistant. The selected
candidate will be based at our Centre
for Rescue and Conservation of Orangutan in Ketapang, West Kalimantan.
General Requirement:
- Male/female;
- University degree in relevant discipline (biology, forestry or equivalent), with a minimum 1 year experience;
- Proficient computer skill in various MS Office applications (excel, word, powerpoint, outlook);
- Proficient with statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS);
- Proven ability to write a report with a good quality outputs and deliver it on time;
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines;
- Ability to communicate and write in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Programme Manager and Scientific Advisor in providing necessary advices/inputs and information concerning rehabilitation and reintroduction of orangutans;
- Work together with the Animal Management Team in preparing a reintroduction process of orangutans;
- Provide support and work together with the survey team to conduct a field survey and disseminate information;
- Provide assistance and work together with the Scientific Advisor in developing and/or modifying the behaviour data collection form and monitoring system of orangutans, and write up an analysis report;
- Collect relevant data of orangutan behaviour and analyse this data (in SPSS);
- Give presentations based on findings regarding the orangutan behaviour per areal;
- Help develop and update a database of orangutans;
- Provide support in preparing and implementing a capacity development of the Animal Management Staff (babysitter and animal keeper) at the Centre;
